Advice for driving in the Isle of Man

Driving in the Isle of Man

Updated: 14 April 2015

Tips, Checklist & Legal Requirements

The Isle of Man is a British overeas territory and the driving standards are very similar to the UK. The most important difference is the lack of a National speed limit although you will find restrictions in built up areas and reckless drivers may well be stopped by the police.

Most populated areas have parking zones. They operate with parking discs that are available at tourist information points, the airport information desk and the Sea Terminal.

Using a mobile phone while driving is a ciminal offence and can incur in heavy fines. Be aware that this law is actively enforced.
