The Port of Poole

The Port of Poole is situated on the Dorset coast in the South of England. The seaside town of Bournemouth lies to the east, Studland to the South and the famous Jurassic Coast to the South West. Poole is a popular tourist destination and provides sailings to Cherbourg, St Malo, Santander and Gijon as well as the Channel Islands. There are three Ferry Companies operating out of Poole which are Brittany Ferries, Condor Ferries and LD Lines.

Poole Ferry Port by Car

Poole is accessible from the M3 and M27 as well as the A31 and A35. When you get to Poole follow the signs for Ferries which will take you to the Port.

Port Facilities


Baby Changing Facilities

If you’re travelling with babies is good to know there are baby changing rooms in the terminal building and in the vehicle check-in lanes.

 

Bureau de change

There is a bureau de change open for all ferry departures.

 

Cafeteria

There is a snack bar/buffet near the car check-in lanes. It opens only during the summer season for all ship arrivals and departures and also sells continental motoring accessories.

 

Disabled facilites

  • • The terminal is a one storey building with a small ramp to be accessible by disabled passengers
  • • There are disabled toilets within the terminal and in the car lanes
  • • Disabled foot passengers have access to an adapted minibus with a ramp to take them to and from the ship
  • • There are wheelchairs available in the terminal for emergencies

 

Shower facilites

There are showers available near the car check-in lanes, in the toilet block.

 

Regular Bus Service

A bus service transports passengers between the terminal and the ships both for arrivals and departures.

 

Telephones

If you need to make a phone call and don’t have access to a mobile phone, you’ll find coin payphones both in the terminal building and in the car lanes.

 

Pets

There are two parks close to the port, Hamworthy Park, 3 minutes drive or 20 minutes walk away, and Poole Park, 8 minutes drive or 40 minutes walk away.

Unfortunately dogs are not allowed to enter the terminal building, but are allowed in the vicinity to their vehicles after passing security and in all areas of the port providing that they are on a lead.
